Please review the Spring Break Reminders from Travell Health Office
March 23, 2021
The NJDOE has announced that the NJSLA assessments will be administered this year. The NJDOE shared information that while they were applying for a federal waiver that will be submitted on March 19, the federal government has up to 120 days to respond to the waiver request. If the federal government does not respond promptly, or if this waiver is denied, that state must prepare for all contingencies and take concrete next steps to implement state testing.
While the NJDOE has indicated that statewide administration will be significantly amended, additional specific details are still under discussion. Testing windows will be open from May 3 to June 11.

Health Office Update:
Due to a high number of cases in our region, as of this week we remain at the high risk designation. Please remember the importance of these primary prevention measures in keeping our community safe:
1. Wearing a well-fitting mask over your nose and mouth. How do I care for my mask? Disposable masks are single use only. Do not reuse these masks. Fabric masks must be washed daily. Keep an extra mask with you.
2. Keep your distance. Maintain at least 6 feet of space between yourself and those who do not live in your household. Masks or plexiglass barriers are not a substitute for social distancing.
3. Wash your hands often. Scrub for at least 20 seconds. After coughing or sneezing, wash your hands immediately. If handwashing is not immediately available, use hand sanitizer.
4. Stay home if you are sick. Our symptom checker survey can help in determining whether or not your child should attend school or other activities. Reach out to your school nurse for guidance.
5. Follow Quarantine/Isolation Guidelines. If you are quarantining due to an exposure, do not participate in any activities outside the home. Stay home for 14 days and maintain distance from family members as much as possible. If you are isolating because you tested positive, do not participate in any outside activities. Stay home and isolate away from family members so that they do not get sick.
Thank you for everything you do to help keep our community healthy and safe!
March 2, 2021
From the Health Office:
If you are quarantining, you may not come to school for any reason. A neighbor or friend must
pick up any necessary supplies for you.
If you have been notified that your child was exposed to someone who was COVID positive,
please contact Ms. Grabinski as soon as possible.
If anyone in your household is symptomatic, all children must remain out of school until a
negative COVID test result is received.
Please call the absence line and give detailed symptom information if your child is ill and will not
be attending school or signing in for their virtual classes. Call 201.444.8225 any time day or
night to leave a message.
All non-essential travel is strongly discouraged. If you plan on traveling outside of the immediate
area (NJ, NY, CT, DE, PA), you will be required to quarantine for 14 days. Per our local health
department, a negative test is not a substitute for a full 14 day quarantine . Please let the nurse
know if you need to travel for any reason.
Thank you for doing your part to help keep our community safe and healthy!

Dear Travell Families,
Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday season. Please note the following reminders:

Safety Reminders regarding Winter Break:
Nonessential travel is strongly discouraged at this time. The safest way to celebrate is with members of your household only. If anyone in your home is showing symptoms, all members of the household must remain home until the symptomatic individual receives either a negative COVID-19 test or an alternative diagnosis from a healthcare provider.
If you do plan to travel, you must quarantine for 14 days upon your return. (You should also quarantine for 14 days upon arrival at your destination per CDC). The incubation period of the coronavirus remains 14 days, and our local Health Department has advised our school district to continue this important practice for the safety of our community. A negative test result does not reduce the required quarantine time period.
Please inform the school nurse of your intent to travel by 12/23 and specify the date you will be returning. You will be given a date for your return to school after the quarantine period has been met (as long as no one in the home develops symptoms during that time).
Please note:
Individuals who are quarantining either due to travel or possible exposure may not pick up/drop off supplies from school.
Please continue to communicate information about symptoms, testing, and possible exposure to your school nurse via email over the winter break. Time sensitive emails will be periodically reviewed and responded to as needed. Stay safe and have a wonderful winter break!

Stay safe!

Need math help?
Helping Hands Ridgewood is a group of volunteer students who formed a club at the high school with a goal of providing extra help in math for elementary school students. Last school year, after the sudden switch from in-person to virtual learning, there was a growing concern of students falling behind in school. We understand that virtual safety is a concern, and we will do everything we can to ensure a friendly but mature environment. As of right now, we hope to launch our full Office Hours program on Monday, January 4. More details will be sent closer to the date. We look forward to working with you soon!
